Online Training – this course is self-paced.  The course duration is approximately 5 hours which can be spread across multiple sessions you do not need to complete the course all in one sitting. Your progress in the course will be preserved. Post-enrollment, you’ll have 6 months of access to this course.

This course is delivered 100% online.

To be eligible for enrollment in the course offered, an individual must display competence in the following areas:

  • English and Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Proficiency: As per the Training Package requirements, the candidate should have adequate proficiency in English and meet LLN standards.
  • Reading Skills: The individual must be capable of reading and comprehending various forms and reports accurately.
  • Writing Abilities: The applicant needs to demonstrate the skill to precisely record information about children and young people at risk. This includes making reports with both handwritten and computer-based methods.
  • Effective Communication: The participant should possess the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with children and young people, especially when they disclose confidential information.

Learning content is provided in an online format within the course. The assessment component consist of multiple choice questions, written questions, student self-video assessments and incident report forms.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.  These are detailed in the sections following.

No industry recommended renewal is identified on the certificate, employers are recommended to consult with stakeholders to identify appropriate training periods.

No work placement will be required as part of this course.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE COURSE?

All learning activities are contained in the online course and may be presented in a variety of formats. This may include, but is not limited to: video presentations, slide presentations, online learner manuals, fact sheets, and other downloadable documents.

Performance tasks:

  • Complete 2 simulated scenarios
  • Child/young person at risk disclosure
  • Child/young person at risk signs reporting

Documentation:

  • Locate Policies and Procedures in the workplace
  • Complete two incident report forms

Theory assessment – An exam consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
