Question # 1 – How long does Confined Space ticket last?

Well, it all depends on the course in question. For instance, nationally recognized competencies for Heights or Confined Space, currently don’t have expiry dates. However, most Australian worksites, in addition to their own site-specific rules, generally require Heights and Confined Space competencies to have been completed or refreshed within two years prior to one’s site induction, which is also best industry practice.

With regards to First Aid Training, these expiry dates are written on the certificates. While First Aid units of competency expire after three years, the CPR unit expires after only 12 months.

Question # 3 – When do I need to have a permit to work in a confined space?

If you were to work in a Confined Space, it is a legal requirement to be authorized, trained, competent, and have a permit to work in a confined space prior to entering, under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 – Section 67.
