For this session to run smoothly you will require suitable video conferencing equipment. This will include a reliable internet connection, and a computer/laptop with microphone, speakers, and camera functionality. It is important that you test your equipment prior to the scheduled teleconference assessment.

Please note, if using an iPad or tablet it will need to have a suitable stand as you will not be able to hold it.

All students must have completed the online theory learning and assessment component prior to the date of their practical assessments.

In the Zoom session you will be required to complete practical tasks (such as 2 minutes of CPR on the floor) and it is essential that the trainer can clearly see you completing these tasks. To ensure the trainer has clear view of you completing tasks, the camera on your computer will need to capture the floor space where you will be conducting these tasks.

To set up your room, please place your chair a distance away from the computer and camera (approximately 2 meters). This will allow you to complete the practical tasks in front of your chair so the trainer can see clearly.

Please consider that other students will also be dialling into this session, and they will be able to see you and your surrounds. It is important that you are dressed appropriately and present as if you are attending a public course.

For more information, please contact our Customer Service Team on 1300 707 677.

The course fees are listed below. These fees include the purchase of all equipment that is required for the practical video conference session. Once you have paid the course fee, the equipment belongs to you and can be used for a future session.

  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation – $110
  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid – $240
  • HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting – $250

Please note, equipment costs associated with 100% Online Training courses are non refundable once equipment has been dispatched from our warehouse.

The online component contains the background theory and participants will need to successfully answer assessment questions before attending the practical video conference component of the course.

The online leaning consists of series of modules including:

  • Presentations
  • Flipping books
  • Videos
  • Assessments (Quiz)

It is recommended that you start at the top and work your way through the modules. Each module will build on your learning. Each of these modules need to be 100% completed. To assist with understanding your progress through the online learning the modules are colour coded. A blue module has not been started, a yellow module has been started but not finished, and a green module has been completed.

This colour coding allows you to easily see what modules you have completed and which ones you have not.

For the presentation and video modules to turn green they must be watched in full. The system will not allow you to fast forward or skip through modules.

Depending on the course you are completing the assessment quizzes come across four different types of questions:

  1. Multiple choice
  2. Written short answer
  3. File upload
  4. Video upload

For the HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and HTLAID011 Provide First Aid Course the assessment types include points one and two above.

Some of these question types will be marked by an assessor. If any of your answers are incorrect, the assessor will return the question to you with feedback so that you can resubmit. This is all done via Training Desk.

Once all the modules have been completed (and have turned green) a notification will pop up in the main menu advising that the online learning has been completed.

You can also download a certificate of completion for this online component. However, you will not be issued the formal statement of attainment until you have also successfully completed the video conference session too.

If you are having trouble with any aspects of the online learning, please get in touch with our Customer Service Team on 1300 707 677.

Some of the common issues are listed below:

  • Google Chrome Browser: Our online learning platform best operated in Google Chrome. Please use this browser to complete your online learning.
  • Module Timer: If you have a module or modules that have not turned green, please navigate to the module to allow the timer to finish and then click the ‘next’ button.

If the following tasks have been completed, you are ready for your video conferencing practical assessment session:

  • You have completed all online learning.
  • You have received the training equipment pack (including CPR manikin etc.) and the manikin has been inflated.
  • You received the Zoom/video conference links.
  • You have tested the video and audio functionality of your computer (camera, microphone and speakers).
  • You have set-up the room so that the camera on your computer will capture tasks being performed on the floor.
  • First aid practical skills outlined in the online learning have been practiced, ready to show the trainer.

If you have any issues with these matters, please get in touch with our Customer Service Team PRIOR to you scheduled Zoom session.
