How to treat overdose at home- What to do?

There have been several situations, particularly among young people, when one of their group members whom have had an overdose on drugs and they have not called for paramedics because they fear getting into problems if the police are also contacted.

Unless their own life is in danger from onlookers, paramedics do not call the police… Paramedics also have a variety of medications on hand to help the overdosed victim recover swiftly.

We’ve included a link to a drug and alcohol chart first aid treatment that is specifically created for younger people at the conclusion of this blog. It’s a little strange to be seen by that age group. The fact that police are not always dispatched when someone calls for EMS is shown in this graph.

It also includes basic first-aid guidelines to assist them while they wait for the ambulance. It’s an important message in the chart to look after your friends, and part of it is education. This may begin at home with a casual discussion about drugs and a call to triple zero if someone experiences an overdose. They must understand that paramedics will not call the cops unless they are concerned for their personal safety…

It’s critical to know what to do in the event of a drug overdose. The steps are as follows on how to treat overdose at home:

  1. Remain calm and, if the person is unconscious and breathing, turn them onto their side.
  2. Call triple zero and ask for an ambulance.
  3. If feasible, attempt to figure out what substance was used, such as alcohol.
  4. Keep an eye on the casualty and make sure they’re still breathing normally.

When speaking with the triple zero operator, they will also give you further advise, so being as cool as possible will help you listen and administer additional first aid to your friend.

Drugs are constantly present, and it’s critical to talk about the strategy, particularly with youngsters, since having a plan to seek assistance may save lives. Please share and publish the chart with your friends because this is such an essential issue for our children to learn about.
