LV RESCUE (LVR CPR TRAINING) FAQ’s (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

LVR CPR refers to a combined training program that covers two critical emergency response techniques: Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

LV Rescue is a rescue procedure used to safely remove a person from a low voltage electrical hazard. It is a technique used by emergency responders to rescue someone who has come into contact with live electrical equipment or a live electrical wire.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving technique that is performed on a person who is in cardiac arrest. It involves chest compressions and rescue breathing to help circulate oxygenated blood to the vital organs.

The LVR CPR Brisbane is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform both LVR and CPR effectively. It includes training on hazard identification, risk assessment, basic anatomy and physiology, rescue procedures, and CPR techniques.

LV Rescue is typically available through accredited providers and may be a requirement for certain professions, such as electricians, emergency responders, or those working in hazardous environments.

The LVR CPR Brisbane is designed to provide knowledge and practical skills to perform a rescue in the unfortunate event of a worker becoming electrified by an electrical apparatus, for example a Low Voltage Switch Board.

The Certification is a nationally recognized program that provides the skills and knowledge required to prevent and respond to an emergency related to electric shock & cardiac arrest.

Every year, over 350,000 people suffer sudden cardiac arrests and less than 10% survive.

The goal of the LV Rescue is to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to improve survival rates.

This LVR CPR Course also provides the participants basic life saving skills, for example CPR.

In Australia, online CPR certification is generally not recognized as a valid certification for workplace health and safety purposes.

This is because CPR certification involves hands-on practical training and assessment, which cannot be fully replicated in an online-only course.

However, some online CPR certification courses may be accepted as a component of a blended learning approach, where the theoretical knowledge can be completed online, and the practical skills are assessed face-to-face by a qualified instructor.

This approach is becoming increasingly popular and may be accepted by certain employers or regulatory bodies.

It is essential to check with your employer or the regulatory body that governs your industry to confirm if they accept online CPR certification for workplace health and safety purposes.

It is also important to ensure that any online CPR certification course you undertake is delivered by a reputable provider and meets the requirements of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

The recommended renewal for the LVR CPR Course:

The recommended renewal period for HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is every 12 months.

LV Rescue from live LV panels – Industry standards for refresher training vary from state to state. Most states recommend refresher training every 12 months.

It is recommended that employers consult with stakeholders in order to determine the appropriate training period for the LVR CPR Training, as the certificate does not indicate an industry recommended renewal.

For example:  Queensland Legislation Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 Schedule 9 Dictionary states;

safety observer—

(a) generally, for electrical work, means a person who—

(i) is competent—

(A) to implement control measures in an emergency; and

(B) to rescue and resuscitate a worker who is carrying out the work, if necessary; and

(ii) has been assessed in the previous 1 year as competent to rescue and resuscitate a person

For more information on Electrical Training in Queensland visit the Electrical Safety Office website or for more information on Electrical Hazards.

LVR CPR Brisbane (LV Rescue) is an important certification that is required for all employees who work with, or near live electricity as an electrician, safety observer or trades assistant.

Employers must ensure that workers performing electrical work or helping to perform electrical work are competent in rescue and resuscitation processes according to recognised industry practices.

Having this certification assists with the safety of employees and others nearby in case anything goes wrong.

The certificate for our LVR CPR Brisbane Course is most often required in industrial settings, but it may also be necessary for construction workers working on new buildings where there are many electrical components or even workers working on solar farms.

Under Queensland Legislation, the Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 Section 28 states; Employers must ensure workers who are required to perform, or help in performing, electrical work are competent in LV Rescue and resuscitation in accordance with recognised practices in the electricity industry.

Hence the necessity to hold an LVR CPR Training competency.

The Queensland Training Ombudsman delivered a report titled The Training of Electrical Apprentices in Queensland (‘the 2016 Report’) to the Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, and Minister for Training and Skills (‘the Minister’) in April 2016.

This report was created for the Minister to provide an update on the training environment for apprentice electricians since the 2016 Report, as well as to consider whether an independent third party should assess the Capstone Test.

An LV Rescue kit is a kit which contains the necessary equipment to respond to an emergency.

The contents of an LV Rescue kit can vary, but there are some items that are necessary in every kit.

During your LVR CPR Brisbane Course with A Training, you will inspect a standard LV Rescue kit / bag for serviceability.

The basic LV Rescue bag may contain, but not limited to:

  • Torch/Flashlight

  • Burns/Trauma Dressing – Non Stick

  • Insulated LV Rescue Crook

  • Insulated Rubber Gloves

  • Fire Blanket

  • Isolate Here in Emergency Sign

Additional items for your site LVR kit / bag, may include, but not limited to:

  • First Aid Kit

  • Defibrillator (AED)

  • Rubber Insulation Mat

Safety observers are recommended to refresher their LVR CPR Training every 12 months to ensure their skills currency are up to date to the most current industry standard.
