•    Option 2:  Online delivery with face-to-face Practical assessment – 45 minutes (minimum) self-paced online learning with a scheduled face to face practical assessment.

Important information regarding course durations:

The duration of the Warden and Chief Warden Course mentioned above, are reflective of group sizes of between 4 and 15 participants. If there are less students in a group, you may find course duration reduced by a maximum of 10%. If a class size exceeds 15 participants it may therefore also be necessary to increase course duration depending on the number of participants.

This course will be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at a A Training training facility.

  • Participants must be able to complete the practical demonstrations for the course, including wearing suitable identification, assisting occupants, using communications systems, commanding, controlling and coordination of facility emergency response procedures.
  • Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.
  • Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.  These are detailed in the sections following.

No industry recommended renewal is identified on the certificate, employers are recommended to consult with stakeholders to identify appropriate training periods.

No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Mastering Emergency Response: PUAFER005 & PUAFER006 Warden and Chief Warden Course Set

This course units apply to individuals who may be required to make decisions about the safety of occupants of a facility during an emergency and to give instructions on the priority order for responding to an emergency incident, including command, control and coordination of facility emergency response procedures and concluding the facility emergency incident.

They may also be required to act as the primary liaison with emergency services. Individuals who undertake this role will generally be members of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO), acting as chief wardens, deputy chief wardens and communications officers.

The course has been developed to cover a broad range of emergencies and facilities as considered in Australian Standard 3745 and Australian Standard 4083. This training program will prepare you to lead and coordinate emergency responses with confidence and competence.

Course Overview

PUAFER005 & PUAFER006 course set is a pair of training programs that are widely acknowledged on a national level. Participants will learn how to effectively plan for and respond to emergencies, including fires, evacuations, and other critical incidents. These courses are centered around emergency response and management. Individuals who enroll will gain knowledge on how to efficiently strategize for and handle emergencies such as fires, evacuations, and other crucial incidents.

The curriculum delves into various subjects, such as emergency protocols, communication strategies, leadership qualities, and additional relevant topics. Upon successful completion of both courses, participants will be equipped to take on leadership responsibilities during emergency scenarios and guarantee the safety and welfare of their coworkers and associates.
